Villa della Genga

This is the sister estate of the Borgo della Marmotta (and part of the “Le terre di Poreta project”). What a good looking sister too! Five gorgeous houses that are more than easy on the eye.

This prestigious estate as a whole, located in Spoleto Poreta, used to belong to the heirs of the family della Genga up to the 15^th century. The Villa della Genga was built in 1673 the villa and everyone has to agree in a place of rare beauty. The great and good certainly thought so,  it was the favorite hunting house of Cardinal Annibale della Genga, who, in 1823, was elected Pope taking the name of Leo XII.

Thankfully, the Villa della Genga, just like the Marmotta, has been beautifully refurbished and renovated and what was once an agricultural location has now been turned into a luxury home from home. The great and good will continue to love it.

To ensure a top notch restoration, special attention was spent on the materials in order to respect the origins of this setting. Also in order to harmonize the architecture with the interiors, materials and colors were inspired by the enchanted landscape of Spoleto.

Even the swimming pool (18 x 8 meters) runs by natural process oxygenation, without any added chemicals. It lies within terraced olive trees and it was built to create an architectural element that recalls the old cattle troughs. Villa della Genga also specializes in the production of organic olive oils, so luxury in this case also come with nature.

A real beauty and just like the Borgo Marmotta the combination of tradition and progress is just about perfect.

Cooking Class

We are organizing cooking classes for small groups, from 4 to 20 persons. The classes will be hosted at Borgo della Marmotta in the ancient “ovile”. We offer tailor made courses that will be associated with other activities following the guests needs.

We have three levels in order to match all requests offering from a base lesson to a more advanced one. We are using mostly local organic products and we are strictly following seasons, this is the main philosophy behind all our culinary activities.

Casa Nello

Casa Nello overlooks the village from above and the particular structure of a tower-house is built on multiple levels. The roof garden is the natural extension of the living room to the outside.

The large round arc frames the stone wall in which, between two colomns, a monumental fireplace was added. This vast and scenic open space offers the opportunity to enjoy the different spaces between modern and ancient architecture.

The pergola of honeysuckle, with its travertine table and comfortable armchairs is a true outdoor living room. A large kitchen area opens from the living room with a large table where for dining, typical for the countryside. A great arc connects the kitchen to the living room which is characterized by the fireplace and the glass door that faces the breathless sunsets.

La Colombaia

From the covered loggia, almost an outdoor lounge / dining area in the summertime, you enter into the kitchen to find where we have kept the original stone fireplace and sink. A brick staircase leads to the first floor and then to the doves tower: inside the tower, a refuge where modern architectural elements
