Tranquila, panorámica, recluida y sencillamente maravillosa Locanda del Gallo es una de esas casas, tranquilas y bellas, situadas en medio de un exuberante paisaje campestre, en las que Italia parece estar especializada. Es sin embargo y al mismo tiempo, típica y singular con bastante más historia y vigas de madera que las que uno pueda lógicamente esperar. Locanda del Gallo tiene su origen en el siglo XII y no cabe duda de que ha tenido un pasado de lo más interesante. El estar estratégicamente situada entre Gubbio y Perugio ha significado que los dos pueblos han luchado encarnizadamente durante siglos por la zona en la que está asentada. Dominando un espectacular paisaje montañoso, debe ser el sitio ideal para observar al enemigo. Hoy día, es sencillamente un sitio ideal para relajarse y estirar el músculo. Encaja perfectamente con su precioso entorno natural, con motivos en vieja piedra y un abundante uso de la madera por todos lados – si bien hay un cierto estilo oriental y la reciente restauración no le ha arrebatado nada a este establecimiento, con su carácter y encanto más acusados que nunca. En cuanto a cosas que hacer y sitios que visitar, puede que esté alejada del mundanal ruido pero hay mucho que explorar. Hipismo, senderismo o visitar fascinantes pueblos – entre los que destacan Asís, Perugia y Gubbio. En contrapartida, puede que lo que apetezca sea sentarse en la agradable piscina, que está construida de forma que uno no se pierda el maravilloso paisaje que la rodea.

Amazing! wont be disappointed but the beds need an upgrade

Fantastic location. Food excellent. The staff were helpful and amazing. The owners were present and always willing to go the extra step. We had a family room that was in the attic and we could not stand up in most of it. Paula changed our room as soon as possible. Very kind and helpful. The only thing I can say, it is important, the beds were very uncomfortable. we stayed in 2 different rooms with 3 beds and they were very uncomfortable.

Paola and Erich have created a sanctuary that allows you to let your soul come to rest. That's what it was for me. The surroundings are stunning, the cuckoo's calling is the loudest noise you can hear. I loved my room, I loved the food, and I felt welcome and at home.

We found Locanda Del Gallo nestled in the magnificent Umbrian hills and immediately breathed easily. This places oozes tranquility and calm. The staff are wonderful, friendly and caring, and the facilities offer a genuine retreat. Our room was spacious with fabulous views of the rolling countryside but the real treat at Locanda Del Gallo are the various spots to hang out and make your own, whether lounging by the enticing infinity pool or taking a moment under the sheltering trees, this place is designed to make you relax! The food is wonderful, lovingly cooked with excellent variety, and with a well stocked bar operating on an honesty system there really is no need to leave! That said the property is an easy and delightful drive to many interesting nearby towns and attractions. All an all a brilliant place. Highly recommended.

From the moment you pull up at Locanda del Gallo you know you have made the best possible choice for a holiday. The hosts could not be more welcoming, but are never intrusive. The location is superb. Tranquil, rustic Italy with incredible views in all directions. The old building has been simply, but interestingly restored to make it very comfortable for guests. The food is outstanding, and excellent value with a bargain wine list to boot. Talking of wine, an honesty bar operates from the living room area, so there is always a drink if you want one. Outside, the terraces provide privacy for you to while away the day on the many sun loungers amongst olive trees, or you can relax by the stunning infinity pool. We also particularly enjoyed the jacuzzi and steam room, whilst the massage was a worthwhile extra. In short go there if you want the best possible quiet place to relax, and enjoy authentic Italy.
