Le Grand Hotel Sète

There’s a real belle époque feel about the Grand Hôtel in Sete. It’s in the architecture, style, central atrium (under a glass ceiling) and even that special, intangible, type of service so reminiscent of the 1920 and early thirties. Unlike many such hotels, however, the Grand Hotel has not rested on its laurels.

A recent refurbishment, for example, has made it even more alluring on the inside, with large comfortable bedrooms rooms and well designed, cool, decor. It all means the “Grand” in the name is perfectly justified.

The location is grand too, by the way, right on the river and great to explore this amazingly little known city. The harbour and some fantastic sea food restaurants are easily reached. Many people feel Sète itself is more genuine, cheaper and friendlier than the Cote D’Azur and it remains a beautiful city, so it is worth exploring in its own right. In that case a couple of nights stay at the Grand Hotel is a no brainer.
