Deutsche Oper Berlin - Bismarckstraße 35d, 10627 Berlin

Probably the greatest mark was left by the night of November 23, 1943, when bombs destroyed the original building of the „Deutsches Opernhaus“, halting temporarily a promising artistic development. After the opening of the “Deutsches Opernhaus” on November 7, 1912, the opera quickly became a popular and well-known opera house for the people. The opera’s management decided to engage only the world’s top-class conductors and excellent singers - a tradition that continues until today.

Staatsoper Unter den Linden at Schiller Theater - Bismarckstraße 110, 10675 Berlin

Since Reunification the Linden Opera has not only become firmly ensconced in the hub of Berlin musical activity, the Opera House ranks once again and indisputably so, among the world´s leading opera houses. With the appointment of Daniel Barenboim as Artistic Director and General Music Director in 1992, yet another musician of international fame with a long-standing international record could be won.

Berliner Philmarmonie - Herbert-von-Karajan-Straße 1, 10785 Berlin

Wildly controversial at first, today universally regarded as an emblem of the city of Berlin: Hans Scharoun’s Philharmonie. In 1956 the architect’s design won the competition for the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra’s new concert hall, but his modern, visionary conception also unleashed a great hubbub. The building went up (1960-63) in the face of great resistance. In the meantime, this concert hall with its unique architecture and acoustics has become a model for many others all over the world. The Philharmonie can be visited even when no concert is taking place within its walls – either virtually, online, or with a guided tour, on site. The Berlin Philharminie Orchestra is "the best orchestra of the world".
